The problem

You've tried. Nothing sticks.

Packed week, nothing movesToo many tasks, rework, fifty open tabs "for later." Later never comes, and the important work stays stuck.
Notes that go to dieMeeting notes in one app, ideas in another, to-dos on paper. When you actually need something, it's nowhere.
AI at 10% of its potentialYou use ChatGPT to polish an email here and there, and you know you're tapping a fraction of what it can do.
"I'll deal with it later"Procrastination isn't laziness. It's what happens when your system for capturing and retrieving things is broken.

The tool isn't the problem. What's missing is a system, and that's what you build here.

Every note compounds. Your future self gets a research assistant.
From "I'll remember it" to "my system remembers."

What you'll learn

Everything you need, from "how does AI even work?" to a running system.

No jargon, no code, no computer-science degree required. Every concept is demonstrated live and practised hands-on, on your own laptop, with your own real work.

01

How AI actually works

Simple mental models that replace the hype, so you can direct AI with confidence instead of guessing.

  • What a model really does when you prompt it
  • Context and memory: why AI "forgets" and how to fix it
  • Choosing the right model for the job (and cost)
02

Why a second brain

The system that turns scattered information into a personal knowledge asset that grows every day.

  • Capture, organise, retrieve, synthesise
  • Notes that link like your brain thinks
  • Build yours live and leave with it working
03

Connect AI to your world

AI that can actually see your email, calendar and files, safely and with your permission.

  • How AI connections work, in plain English
  • Hook AI up to Gmail, Calendar and your notes
  • "Triage my inbox": watch it happen for real
04

API access & automation

Go beyond the chat window: your own API keys, agents that run on a schedule, work done while you sleep.

  • Set up your own API access, step by step
  • Daily briefings and recurring tasks on autopilot
  • Safety, costs and what never to automate
The day at a glance

One day. Four blocks. A working system by 5pm.

9:00 – 10:30Foundations

How AI works, live demos that reset your expectations, and your first hands-on session. Everyone gets set up and running.

10:45 – 12:30Your second brain

Build your capture-and-organise system live. Your notes, your projects, your real work, structured so nothing gets lost again.

1:15 – 3:00Connections

Connect AI to your email, calendar and files. Set up your own API access. This is where it stops being a toy and becomes a colleague.

3:15 – 5:00Automation & your roadmap

Schedule recurring tasks, build one automation you'll actually use, and leave with a personal 30-day plan to make it stick.

What you'll automate

What your system takes off your plate

Client follow-ups on autopilotEmails to clients about recurring services go out on schedule, written in your tone, without you chasing anyone.
Bills that remind youPayment reminders land in your calendar before the due date, pulled straight from the bills in your inbox.
An inbox that cleans itselfA daily job files, archives and flags your email, so you open a triaged inbox every morning.
Tax documents, already organisedReceipts and statements sorted into the right folders all year, ready when it's time to lodge.
A morning briefingYour day's meetings, priorities and reminders, delivered to your phone before you sit down.
Meeting notes that file themselvesNotes captured, formatted your way and linked to the right project, minutes after the call ends.
Hands-on

You build it live, and take it home running

During the workshop you set up your own AI assistant, teach it how you work, and put your first real automation live. Without writing a line of code, you leave with everything configured and running on your own machine.

Is this for you?

Built for professionals, not programmers.

This is for you if…

  • You're a founder, manager or professional drowning in information
  • You've used ChatGPT, but suspect you're only scratching the surface
  • You want a system, not another productivity hack
  • You're willing to spend one focused day setting it up properly

This is not for you if…

  • You're looking for a coding bootcamp or developer training
  • You want passive theory. This day is hands-on from hour one
  • You expect AI to fix things without changing how you work
  • You can't bring a laptop. You'll be building on it all day
What you walk away with

Not notes about a system. The system itself.

A working second brainSet up on your own laptop during the day, capturing, organising and retrieving your real information.
Live connectionsAI connected to your email, calendar and notes, plus your own API access configured.
Your first automationA real recurring task, like a daily briefing, built by you and already running when you leave.
Templates & cheat sheetsThe full template vault, setup guides and prompt playbook, so you never start from a blank page.
30 days of supportA personal roadmap plus a 30-day follow-up cohort, so the system sticks after the day ends.
A small cohortFifteen people max, so every question gets answered and every setup gets unstuck, including yours.

Bryan Dichtl, workshop instructor

Bryan Dichtl

Bryan is a Sydney-based engineer with over 15 years building the infrastructure behind large-scale identity, cloud and blockchain systems, the kind of engineering where things have to actually work. The AI second brain he teaches is the exact system he runs his own work on: his email triage, meeting notes, task management and research all flow through it, every single day.

This isn't theory from a slide deck. Everything in the workshop is demonstrated live from the same system Bryan uses to run his own work, translated into plain English for people who never want to touch code.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

No. If you can use a web browser and install an app, you're technical enough. The workshop is designed for non-technical professionals. There is zero code, and every step is done together, live.

A laptop (Mac or Windows) and a willingness to work with your own real information: your actual notes, projects and inbox. You'll receive a short setup guide by email a week before the workshop so we can hit the ground running. Budget a small AI usage allowance too (about A$30–50 in credits); the guide walks you through it.

Yes. The workshop is hybrid. In-person seats at Laneway Education are capped at 15, and a limited number of remote seats are available with full participation in the hands-on sessions.

Request an invite and we'll send you the full details, including investment options. Applying is free and doesn't commit you to anything.

Please do. People who build their second brain alongside someone they know are far more likely to still be using it months later. The invite form asks who you're coming with, and pairs get preferential pricing.

Yes. For teams of three or more, or a private session just for your company, email brayandt@gmail.com directly and we'll tailor it to your workflows.

Almost certainly. Using ChatGPT to polish emails is like owning a car and only using the radio. This workshop is about connecting AI to your actual information and putting it to work: on your inbox, your calendar, your notes.

You leave with a working system, all templates and guides, and a personal 30-day plan. Every attendee is also included in a 30-day follow-up cohort to keep momentum going. For those who want to go deeper, there are further options shared on the day.
